The techniques shown are advanced level and require more than just technical knowledge of Photoshop, they actually require talent and knowledge of design, layout, balance, color theory, subtlety, etc. If you are an advanced user, I hope you find these techniques inspiring and helpful.
An Lab color space is a color-opponent space with dimension L for luminance and a and b for the color-opponent dimensions, based on nonlinearly-compressed CIE XYZ color space coordinates.
The goal of capture sharpening is to restore the detail that is lost during digital capture and nothing more. You want to increase the image detail without emphasizing noise. Capture sharpening requires a gentle touch. If you introduce sharpening artifacts early in your workflow, they will almost certanly compound as you edit the image. Save the aggressive sharpening for output sharpening toward the end of your workflow.

1. Press Tab will hide tool bar and palette, Shift+Tab will hide only palette.
